Home Office Desks including Pedestals with integrated Filing Cabinet Drawer

Need a new home office desk with inbuilt file drawer?

For those working from home a file drawer is a necessity to keep your documents organised. It is certainly handy to have a file drawer no more than an arm’s length away. Business is much tidier with workspace, storage and files bundled nicely into one single unit!

At Saxen we have a great selection covering a variety of budgets.

First of all, let us explain three different styles to help you narrow down your search.

Single pedestal with filing

Single pedestal desks have any storage, inbuilt at one side only – one, single pedestal.

These tend, although not always, to be the smaller options. So are ideal where space is premium. As they are usually a little more compact, these desks can be the more economical choice. Again, this is not always the case.

Potential Disadvantages: Generally smaller desktop, so less workspace. Least storage space of the three styles.

Single Pedestal Example:

The Cabrini White Home Office Single Pedestal Desk is the most economical on our list today. The pedestal can be situated on either the right or left. There is a stationery drawer and a file drawer. The desktop is 1200mm x 600mm.

If you have extra space, and could do with a little more storage, this desk has a coordinating bookcase available to purchase separately.

Double pedestal with filing

Double pedestal desks are designed so you are seated in the middle with inbuilt storage at either side – two sides, double pedestal. An extra pedestal equals more storage and a larger desktop so more workspace!

For some desks this may include more than one file drawer such as the industrial style Iron Foundry Desk (image at the top of the post) which boasts two filing drawers. For the Iron Foundry, workspace is 1500mm x 508 mm. Narrower than the Cabrini above but a little longer.

Double Pedestal Example:

Trestle style desks are extremely popular with their minimalist look. Unfortunately, they seldom have much storage. These double pedestal, Executive Trestle Desks in Vintage Oak or Chalked Chestnut Effect dare to be a little bit different.

These desks have two filing drawers, two storage drawers and two open shelves – lots of storage! Plus a choice of two finishes. Plenty of workspace with a very generous sized desktop of 1500mm x 596mm and a neat cable port. Plus a choice of two finishes. What’s not to love!

L-Shaped or Corner Desks

These may be either single or double pedestal like the above examples. However, the main advantage is that you will have a much larger desktop and so a larger workspace. The disadvantages of the L-shaped desk style is these will need a little more space in the home.

Single Pedestal Example:

The Dover Oak Home Study L-Shaped Desk is a popular customer choice with a generous slate effect worktop and discreet cable management. The pedestal includes a file drawer and shelf. Although this is only a single pedestal desk a lower storage shelf is included within the desk return.

In addition, this desk is part of a collection. The range includes a coordinating coffee table and TV cabinet and more importantly, a stylish lateral filer should you require a little more ‘coordinated’ filing space!

Double Pedestal Example:

The Barrister Home Office L-Shaped Desk is ideal for a home study or a room dedicated as a home office. Although a double pedestal option this only has one file drawer. However, it offers much more storage and a very generous desktop workspace.
